What is a Hedge Fund?

In the first video of the Understanding Hedge Funds series, we will explain what constitutes a hedge fund to improve investor knowledge and understanding.

There is no strict definition of a hedge fund. They are a type of managed or mutual fund but with a series of features that typically qualify them as a hedge fund. In this video we will list the features and the conditions under which funds might qualify.

• OLIVIA123 consists of three modules - Data Collection, Identity Verification (AML&KYC), and Online Execution - assisting fund managers and their administrators by reducing the time and costs of processing paper based applications, including compliance with new anti-money laundering legislation.

• OLIVIA123's online, interactive system is estimated to cut the time taken to complete and process a paper based application by up to 70 per cent.

SINGAPORE: Hedge fund managers said industry consolidation and increased regulatory oversight with accompanying costs are the top two challenges facing the industry in the next one to two years.

This is according to a pool of 100 hedge fund managers interviewed by accounting firm, Ernst and Young.
