AFM's Risk and Return Ranking Reports provide a comparative guide to the relative performance of funds of a similar type - grouped either by asset class or geographic mandate, or a combination of each - and then displayed as a "Heat Map" to provide a visual interpretation of the underlying data.
The criteria used for the ranking tables have been selected from a combination of fund performance over selected time frames, and various risk criteria, which are then weighted to provide a balance between risk and return. The resulting data is based on a rolling twelve month period, and therefore funds without at least a 12 month track record will not appear.
The reports are updated monthly, but to ensure accuracy and relevance only when ALL eligible funds in each report have provided their performance data. Therefore the most recent month shown in the tables (in the near left hand column) will not necessarily include the most recent results of individual funds.
Care should be taken when reviewing and analysing the tables: They provide a useful guide, particularly as an indicator of a change in performance or risk, or of a fund's ability to adjust to varying market conditions. However they should only be used as part of more thorough and detailed analysis of a fund's suitability for an investor's requirements.
Use Portfolios or Custom Statistics to create and refine analysis of selected groups of funds.
